  • a composer, musicologist, pedagogue
  • he studied composition at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno and at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz, musicology at Masaryk University in Brno
  • he has composed operas, orchestral and chamber pieces and written texts focused on 20th-century music
  • he teaches at the Music Education Department of the Faculty of Education of Palacký University in Olomouc, where he initiated the launch of the Different Hearing programme, which he is still leading

Mgr. JAROMÍR SYNEK, Ph.D.

  • a pedagogue, chorus master, musical instrument builder
  • he studied at the Faculty of Education of Palacký University in Olomouc (teaching of the pupils of the 2nd grade of primary schools and students of secondary schools, specialisation: Czech and Music Education)
  • from 1994 to 2001 he taught Czech and music, and served as chorus master of school choirs at Olomouc primary and secondary schools
  • currently, a lecturer of music education didactics at the Music Education Department of the Faculty of Education of Palacký University

Mgr. GABRIELA COUFALOVÁ, Ph.D.

  • a flautist and pedagogue
  • she studied Theory and Performance of Early Music at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno and Teaching for 2nd Grade of Primary Schools (music education and German) at the Faculty of Education of Palacký University in Olomouc
  • from 1997 to 1999 she taught the fipple and transverse flute at the Primary Arts School in Letohrad, in 2002-2004 taught German at the Language Preparation Centre of the Faculty of Education of Palacký University in Olomouc
  • currently a lecturer of music history and theory at the Music Department of the Faculty of Education of Palacký University in Olomouc

Mgr. GABRIELA VŠETIČKOVÁ, Ph.D.

  • a pedagogue, German teacher
  • she studied Music Education Teaching for Secondary Schools (Faculty of Education) and History (Faculty of Arts) at Palacký University in Olomouc and received a doctorate in Music Theory and Pedagogy
  • currently a lecturer of music history and 20th–century music at the Music Department of the Faculty of Education of Palacký University in Olomouc

Prof. Ing. IVO MEDEK, Ph.D

  • a composer, performance artist, theoretician, pedagogue
  • he gained a master’s degree and doctorate in composition studies at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU) in Brno
  • he teaches composition and theory of composition. From 2002 to 2008 he served as Dean at the Faculty of Music of the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, since 2010 president of JAMU
  • he has composed more than 50 orchestral, chamber and electro-acoustic pieces
  • co-founded Ars Inkognita and Ensemble Marijan

  • a member of Ensemble Marijan
  • co-founder of the composers’ associations HUDBABY and Multi-Art

  • a composer, solo instrumentalist and creator of special percussion, string and wind instruments
  • he studied at the Brno University of Technology (nuclear and heat machines and equipment), at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno (percussion, composition and theory of composition)
  • he has composed more than 60 chamber, orchestral and electro-acoustic pieces
  • a founding member and artistic director of the DAMA DAMA Central European percussion ensemble and the KONVERGENCE duoE

  • a composer, musician (guitar, computer), improviser, visiting professor of sound design at the Donauuniversität Kremsms
  • teaches Digital Audio at the FH Joanneum Graz, until 2002 he led the “Klangnetze” programme in Graz and Carinthia
  • he co-founded the Different Hearing/Anders Hören programme

CORDULA BÖSZE

  • a flautist, improviser, pedagogue, studied the transverse flute at the Musikhochschule in Vienna
  • co-founded the “böszen salonorchesters” for contemporary music performance, experiments with the transverse flute’s sonic possibilities

Mag. Dr. GERHARD NIERHAUS

  • a composer and pedagogue, studied composition at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz with Peter Michael Hamel and Gerd Kühr
  • has written compositions not only for common formations but also electro-acoustic and electronic music for theatre, dance theatre and film
  • he teaches algorithmic composition at the Institut für Elektronische Musik und Akustik Graz and focuses on combining music with other arts
